Hop-on Aggressively Seeking License Agreements

IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HOP-ON, INC. (Pink Sheets:HPNN - News) announced today it has exceeded its growth target in acquiring essential wireless patents. Over the first quarter of this year Hop-on has been awarded several key wireless design and utility patents which we anticipate generating significant revenue and assets for the Company.

Hop-on's intellectual property opportunities are simultaneous to other smaller companies demanding enforcement of their intellectual property development in Federal Court. Peter Michaels, president of Hop-on, stated, "A little unknown company called Texas MP3 Technologies took on Apple, Samsung Electronics and Sandisk with a patent infringement lawsuit stemming from US patent No. (7,065,417) awarded in June 2006 and are now in the Federal Courts. Last week 58 million dollars in damages was awarded to Verizon after the court restrained defendant Vonage from any further sales or use of Verizon's patents. Vonage does not currently own any U.S. issued patents and relied on the intellectual property developed by Verizon. In our case many manufacturers are doing the same and mistakenly believe they are able to use the intellectual property developed by Hop-on. It may not be known, but it is possible to infringe on a patent that did not exist when the product was first manufactured. Last week, a U.S. Federal jury ruled that Microsoft had infringed an Alcatel-Lucent patent related to Mp3 technologies and awarded 1.52 billion dollars in damages."

Research firm In-Stat has calculated since 2004, over one billion wireless handsets have been sold in the North America. Hop-on anticipates its licensing agreements will cover 10 to 15 percent of past, present and future sales of these handsets. Intellectual property licensing fees are typically 15 percent of the cost of a mobile phone. Michaels stated, "We believe that we will be able to receive anywhere from .05 cents to $3.00 per infringement estimated to be on approximately 150,000,000 pieces of equipment, which would encompass past, present and future sales."

Hop-on's design patent licenses include an mp3 speaker phone (D536,685) and a flip phone (D536,320). The latest Utility patents include a universal charging technology (US 6,994,592).
