Hop-on Hears You Now, Verizon Wireless

IRVINE, Calif.--(November 28, 2007)--Verizon’s announcement that it will allow phone and mobile device manufacturers to connect to their network signals huge business opportunities for Hop-on, Inc. (OTC: HYPERLINK "http://finance.yahoo.com/q?s=hpnn.pk&d=t" HPNN), a leading developer and marketer of wireless phones and accessories and the foremost creator of mobile gambling technology.
As one of the only remaining American manufacturers of CDMA phones, Hop-on could experience tremendous gains as a result of Verizon’s “Any App, Any Device” initiative. Verizon plans to announce the minimal technical standards for connecting to its network early next year, and hopes to have devices available by the end of 2008.
“Hop-on is familiar with the CDMA standards that will be requirements for approval on Verizon’s network,” says president of Hop-on, Peter Michaels. “We have been approved for use on several other networks already.”
Verizon customers will be able to choose from a wider selection of phones that are free of restrictions, including phones from Hop-on’s innovative, cost-effective line such as the 1993 model which is priced under $75, as opposed to others which run upwards of $250.
It could also open the door for non-phone devices like gaming systems or cameras to get cellular access for the first time. This unprecedented plan will open the doors for Hop-on’s latest mobile gaming and wagering software to be played through Verizon customers’ phones.
“This is huge news for us,” says Michaels. “Verizon’s decision to open their networks to outside manufacturers means that we now have 64 million Verizon subscribers as potential new customers. Our breakthrough cellular technology and our brand-new mobile wagering applications will finally be available for their customers to enjoy.”
Verizon’s announcement comes about three weeks after Google unveiled its plans to release its own open mobile platforms with Android Linux-based device operating system and its Open Handset Alliance, a conglomeration of over 30 companies that hope to develop lower cost, open mobile devices. Verizon’s and Google’s new strategies signal a shift in open-thinking that other communications companies are bound to follow, which will prove to be beneficial for consumers and Hop-on alike.
