Hop-on Will Launch Casino Wagering on Google
Android OS Phone at CES 2009
IRVINE, CA, Dec 04, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX)
-- Hop-on Inc. (Pink Sheets:
HPNN) announced that it will be launching its
new Casino Wagering Software on an open "Android
Platform" device at the Consumer Electronic Show, in
Las Vegas, January 2009. This phone including the
software will be sold for under $200.
From High Beam Research: "The Bets are on Mobile
Gambling: Worldwide Revenues Forecasted to Reach $16
Billion According to Alexander Resources." Further,
"2008 has been an encouraging year for a number of
mobile gambling service providers, with many seeing
total wager increasing by more than 100%. That said,
the rollout of such services has been limited to a
few key markets, most notably the UK."
The Open Handset Alliance, which supports the
Android Platform, was established in November 2007,
with over 30 members including mobile handset
makers, application developers, some mobile
carriers, chip makers, and led by Google (NasdaqGS).
Nokia, AT&T and Verizon Wireless are not members of
the Alliance. Android, the flagship software of the
Alliance, is based on an open source license and
will compete against other mobile platforms
developed independently for their particular
handsets, now with the open platform Hop-on will
reap the benefits of the source code.
The Alliance share a common goal of fostering
innovation on mobile devices and giving consumers a
far better user experience than much of what is
available on today's mobile platforms. By providing
developers a new level of openness that enables them
to work more collaboratively, Android will
accelerate the pace at which new and compelling
mobile services are made available to consumers.
Peter Michaels, President and CEO of Hop-on, stated,
"We will be bringing Mobile Gaming to Europe where
Gaming is legal, secure and regulated. New 3G
wireless technologies and phones will play a big
role in the growth of mobile gaming by making it
more convenient and secure. These new networks and
phones will allow real-time, exciting and
player-to-player betting to be possible."
Michaels further stated, "Hop-on is committed in
bringing the latest technology to the market, the
Android open platform makes Hop-on competitive in
the high-end mobile phone market. This will create
market value for our shareholders."
